Attempt number 2 on this entry...power outage took my first one, but thank god for that LJ client, Semagic: automatically saves LJ drafts.
Woke up, and first order of business--move stuff around to make space for Grandma's arrival. Jim and Mikey will be moving down into the next room in the basement within the next few days. Work was once again very busy, and we filled our quota. Came home, and was in the company of two stoned ones, Rob and David. Felt the usual general annoyance about myself being the only one with wits in the room, but what got me was that baby Adam was in the room while the two were toking. I brought out this point, bringing up secondhand smoke, especially with a 4-month old baby, but Rob disagreed with my point, saying that the baby wouldn't get secondhand smoke from pot...and to think, Jen made Rob the godfather of the child. That'll look real nice...a godfather who loves to be stoned, and a father who likes to do the same. Consideration, perhaps?
So, I took this little annoyance online with me, and was further bummed out for a time. After a month of talking and planning for Sarah's visit, God had one more card up his sleeve to fuck with this one. As it turns out, Sarah was checking for prices to rent a car, and prices fell in the range of affordability, what was expected...then came the hidden fees, fees which would make renting the car costing double, out of the range of affordability, thus making the chances of her coming up here very slim. Thank you, God. However, I have one more card up my sleeve, an option that was floating around in my head for a while, which resurfaced again: myself going to Oklahoma to see her. As a result of this new financial situation, that option seems considerably more likely. As I said, I refuse to let God and money matters ruin plans long since made. I made the days off, I'm going to use them to see my best friend. So, with this little move, it looks like the plan for a visit will still go on, the idea of me going to the Midwest becoming more likely. Financially, it's a better option for both parties. And it can be fun...I'll be a stranger in a strange land. So, both of us were cheered up, and all instances of annoyance were wiped away, replaced with excitement. To be in the company of Sarah, her mom, and her brother, and the insanity that ensues...will be much fun, indeed.
Pay day tomorrow, and I go to bed. Nighty night, all.
