Exploding sewage causes legal stink.
Monday, 20 September 2004 10:26So was the headline of the Poughkeepsie Journal last Thursday.
My weekend in NP entailed much, much funness. Is that a word? Oh well, fuck it. It's 10 AM, and going back to sleep doesn't look likely, so I'm allowed to butcher the language. (grins)
Thursday--Shortly after my last class, Weather and Climate, April arrived, bearing much happiness. I packed up, and before leaving North Adams, we had breakfast at Jack's, a very inexpensive, but excellent grease pit. You know it's good when you can get a cheeseburger for 90 cents. Back to NP we went, where Ben awaited my arrival. We had planned a little tactical espionage, and during the time I spent in NP on Thursday, I kept waiting for Wyatt to jump out of a tree, net me, and run off screaming wildly, "I got him!" with April and Ben chasing him with various sharp/blunt objects. But no, the representative from Canada didn't do any such thing, and the three of us walked around campus before sitting on the stone benches between Scudder and Capen Halls, chatting. After that, April and I retired to the comfort of her room, where I was finally shown Rocky Horror Picture Showand fun would be had until collapsing from exhaustion.
Friday--After being woken up most conventionally, called Ben (and woke everyone up in the process, feck!) to make plans for the day. When I arrived at Esopus, I saw Wyatt, and began to beat him with blunt objects for the line he threw at April. Seeing as how April had to work for the afternoon, I spent most of the day gaming with Ben, Wyatt, Nick, and I also met Ben's girlfriend, Christina, and Wyatt's girlfriend, Nikki. So for 4 or 5 hours, gaming, and watching the first 19 episodes of Red vs. Blue. I was home. (smiles) After April got out of work, took her back to Esopus to join the melee, and more gaming was had until we all decided to head to dinner at La Bella, where Ben, Nick, Wyatt, April, and I snarfed down two whole large pizzas. Hungry much? Yes. After snarfing on cheesy goodness, back to Ben and Wyatt's dorm to watch Mystery Science Theater 3000, quite hysterical. After movie's end, April and I braved the pouring rain for the trek from Esopus Hall to her dorm, where we then watched The Addams Family. Visions of a child Sarah, Lisa, and Mike came flooding back as I saw the Mamushka scene...(snicker) "I'm a drop-dead Fred!!!" (laughs wildly) Following the movie came some experiments in love, and then sleep came, the pouring rain outside my music.
Saturday--Woke up rather pleasantly, and neither of us wanted to get out of bed. However, plans were made--a trip to the mall with Ben, Christina, April, and I, and hopefully Wyatt and Nick. However, Wyatt and Nick were not present, so it was just the four of us to the Galleria, where we had our first priority--FOOD! April took us to a place called Fresno's, and much, much stuffing of faces occurred, myself feasting on a BBQ Pig sandwich. Oh, yum! With bellies full, we headed to the arcade where April and Christina could watch Ben and I play DDR, and saw ourselves getting schooled by people far more talented at the game than us. Fun, regardless. After some DDR, onto the air hockey, where I got my ass handed to by April. Christina would end up being champion, beating April by a narrow margin. We stopped in Hot Topic (the place where every religious fanatic abhors, and what my sister calls a "goth" store), and I got myself another video game shirt and a green wristband with the 1-up green mushroom from Mario. Spencer's followed, where April and I picked up some fun...(snicker) and then it was back home for the night, whereupon April and I watched The Producers and The Birdcage. Thus ended the drag queen weekend.
Sunday--Damn phone waking me...needless to say, neither of us wanted to get out of bed, and we stayed in until 2 or so, where we decided to go to the favorite health club, IHOP. Breakfast at 3 in the afternoon? Why not? After snarfing on food and drink, back to her dorm, where I packed, and we headed back to North Adams. However, due to a 6 1/2 mile traffic jam going west on the MassPike, in which traffic was quite literally not moving, April stayed the night here. Better than getting back to NP really late and getting little sleep. While she was doing homework, I chatted with Sarah, sharing our exploits of the weekend and ways to torture her ex-boyfriend. Fire gel, a cat-o'-nine-tails, used condoms dripping with spermicide...I think that's good to start. (maniacal laughter) After that, relaxing and sleep, sleep coming a little after midnight. Haven't gone to bed that early in a long time.
After getting up at 9 today, April's on her way back now. I may try to go back to sleep, but doesn't look likely. However, a quite fun weekend was had by all, and all is currently right with the world. Hope you're feeling fully better, Sarah, and I'll chat with ya later today.
Today...have to get the last of my books from the bookstore, and open up a new bank account since there is no Fleet/Bank of America anywhere nearby. Also have to inquire about Wal-Mart status today.
A fun weekend...glad I could be there. Now, back to life here.
