I must say, it's been an awesome week (starting from last Wednesday) so far. Since then, we've had a Danielle C. (I know way too many Danielles), a Sara, a Ryan, and an April. Last weekend was spent having a blast, and also going to see John Williams & The Boston Pops for the annual Film Night at Tanglewood concert. I swear, this concert should just be re-named the "I'm John Williams and I'm fucking awesome" concert because the program consists almost entirely of his scores for the many, many films he's done.
It was a great show, and even the 3 hours we spent at Tanglewood leading up to the concert was filled with food and merriment. For the curious, here's what was performed:
1) WHITING (arr. WILLIAMS) Hooray For Hollywood
A SALUTE TO THE HOLLYWOOD WESTERN
2) WILLIAMS “The Cowboys” Overture
3) BARRY John Dunbar’s Theme from “Dances with Wolves”
4) NEWMAN Theme from “How the West Was Won”
5) WILLIAMS Suite from “The Reivers”
MORGAN FREEMAN, narrator
{Intermission}
6) arr. WILLIAMS Tribute to the Film Composer
Presenting GIL SHAHAM
7) GARDEL (arr. WILLIAMS) “Por Una Cabeza” (Tango from “Scent of a Woman”)
8) WILLIAMS Three Pieces from “Schindler’s List”
Remembrances
Krakow Ghetto–Winter ’41
Theme
9) BOCK (adpt. WILLIAMS) Excerpts from “Fiddler on the Roof”
10) WILLIAMS Aubrey Hepburn Tribute
11) WILLIAMS Throne Room and Finale from “Star Wars”
Sunday was spent primarily as a loaf day, but we all ended up playing LIFE and heading to Bombers.
April and I headed back to work today, but Danielle is here until Wednesday, when we take her back to school. But now, time for dinner. NOM NOM Japanese.
